PRAISE CURES DRY TIME

Numbers 21:16 & 17

16From there they went to Beer, which is the well where the LORD said to Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.” 17Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, O well!  All of you sing to it—

The first thing I notice in this scripture is that God called His people together, through Moses because here is unity and power in corporate gatherings.  In times of pressure, anxiety, or depression, God’s people should not stay alone.  It is important that they gather together, especially to praise God.  We must not forget the fact that there is power in agreement. Regardless of personal feelings, or what we may be facing, we are to gather together corporately with audible prayer, and praise and sing and speak to our well – to our God.

The second thing is that God has given a promise, that His presence will permeate every area of our lives.    The song that rises from our hearts should be one of thanksgiving for past blessings, as well as a song sung in faith for the promises of God for the present and the future.  We are to come together in faith believing that God will show up. Why!  Because He has said it in His Word -- for example:

Matthew 18:20

For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

And then

Psalm 22:3

But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.

Thirdly, the people had a responsibility, which was to sing “Spring up O well!”  You and I have a well of living water inside us but it is our responsibility to activate the pump and cause the water to rise up within.  The Holy Ghost resides within but we must daily build ourselves up in our most holy faith by praying in the Holy Ghost, otherwise the deposit within us will begin to  dry up.

Isaiah 12:3-6

3Therefore with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation.  4And in that day you will say: “Praise the LORD, call upon His name; Declare His deeds among the peoples, Make mention that His name is exalted.  5Sing to the LORD, For He has done excellent things; This is known in all the earth.  6Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion, For great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!”

We must  draw water from the wells.  We must give thanks to His name.  We must sing and shout aloud.   If there is any blockage in our lives to a free flow of the Spirit, just as Isaac did in the natural in

Genesis 26:18

And Isaac dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham. He called them by the names which his father had called them.

in the spiritual sense, we must re-dig the wells of our lives with prayer and praise so that the dry times will become times of refreshing in the presence of the Lord.

What are you going to do when you face dry times?  Will you join with God's people to praise Him and pray in the Holy Ghost?  Will you activate the pump of praise and thanksgiving in your life so that there is a flow of God Spirit from your life?

Prayer

Lord, help me to be a person of praise. Help me to turn my dry times into times of refreshing in Your presence.

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  1st John 4:10 & 11
